1D and 2D
1D formats use bars and spaces, including EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, ITF, and Codabar. 2D formats place data in two dimensions, including QR Code, Data Matrix, Aztec, and PDF417. The available decoder supports these formats, but recognition depends on the captured image.
Retail digits are not product lookup
EAN and UPC usually encode digits used by retail systems. This reader reports the encoded text and detected format; it does not identify a product, check a price, authenticate merchandise, or query a product database.
QR links and difficult images
A QR code may contain a URL, text, or another payload. The reader does not guarantee that a URL is safe; inspect it before opening. Keep the complete code, contrast, focus, and a blank quiet zone in view. For an uploaded image, crop one code and retain a small white border. Glare, blur, perspective, damage, or a code that is too small can cause a failed or wrong result.
